Help With Entrepreneur Frustration

Being an entrepreneur isn’t easy. Nine times out of ten you have needed help handling entrepreneur frustration. Entrepreneurship is definitely not for the faint at heart. Stress is an understatement. Sleepless nights, time away from family, sacrificing yourself for your staff, and others. There are times when being a business owner just doesn’t seem fair.  When life just seems to be giving you more than what you bargained for, there are three things you should be doing regularly to aid in lowering your frustration levels from 10 to little or none.

Below are 3 steps to help with entrepreneur frustration:

  1. Relax- There are apps for soothing techniques. Calm helps with anxiety, Colorfy app is an electronic adult coloring book, breathwrk assists with breathing techniques, Shine is geared towards people of color, and there’s moodnotes for journaling and mind shift.  Choose four random times a day to set an alert. I have 9:30am, 11:15am, 1:45pm, and 3:30pm. Monday through Friday my watch vibrates at those selected times.  If I’m in a meeting I take slow deep breaths or do progressive muscle relaxation. If I’m not in a meeting I will pull out one of those apps or one of my music playlists full of songs that make me smile. It’s time to kick that self-care into gear immediately.
  2. Reset- Take a step back and do nothing. A lot of times we are so engulfed in the thick of things, small details get lost in our emotions. In knowing so,  you need a release of frustrating toxins so you can replenish yourself with positive vibes. When resetting, it is helpful to bounce ideas off of a trusted confidant or mentor. You will need someone in your corner who truly knows you and can tell you the truth in love. When resetting you are committing to taking a broader view of your circumstances and allowing someone else to give you permission to think differently. Remember, not everything can be handled on the spot. Resetting allows you the time to begin anew with a different focus.
  3. Regroup- Now that you have shaken the frustration and disappointment off let’s get to work. When you regroup you must commit to the new focus. You must allow yourself the grace to be human. You must throw away the initial mindset and allow your creativity to flow effortlessly. If you aren’t there after your first relax and reset then go another round. Not everything that you encounter will be easily let go. Betrayal is real, sabotage is real, disappointment is real. You cannot control the actions of others but you can control how you respond. Even if you think it’s unforgivable. Your job is to get up everyday and be better than you were yesterday. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!! The only person you can count on to do their very best is you. So don’t burn yourself out focusing on things that you cannot control. The delivery for products is late, okay, what can you do while you’re waiting? I can almost guarantee you have some work on the back burner that could use your attention during the wait. In order to regroup you MUST relax and reset during the wait.
